Kighkey DeyGogh
Kighkey, a lifelong resident of Bronx, New
York, has played in a wide variety of bands
since the age of twelve. Although his main
talent is his virtuoso bass playing, he has
also performed live as a guitarist, backing,
and lead vocalist.
Among his past bands are Asylumix,
a five-piece rock cover band; Paradox,
a top 40 dance band; Crybaby, a female
fronted progressive rock band and Overplay,
an experimental jazz fusion group.
Kighkey's playing is augmented by the wide
variety of variations on the traditional bass
instruments which he has mastered. When performing,
at one moment he will be playing a 5, 6 or
8-string electric bass, the next an acoustic
upright, or his custom made five-string electric
mini upright. At other times Kighkey can be
seen working the fretless or acoustic fretless.
And when things get really wild, he breaks
out the midi-bass from which emanates every
sound known to digital technology.
When on stage, not only are audiences wowed
by his amazing playing abilities, but his
energetic performance style is equally stunning.
He often runs from side to side of the stage,
kicking his legs high into the air, or mugging
and camping for the crowd. His stage costumes
range from a purple executioners hood and
matching purple boa, to pants with day-glo
slinkies dangling from the legs.
Kighkey says his goal is always to keep his
mind open to new styles of music and to creatively
express himself while keeping up the energy
and enthusiasm which drive The Imperial Orgy's
heavy rhythm section. |
