Samantha D.

In Samantha's senior year in the film department, she co-directed a documentary on poverty and homelessness titled "The Bottom Rung" with Pink. To make the film she traveled across the Eastern U.S. interviewing street people in urban shelters and in cardboard box communities.

The standard conservative perspective is that the homeless are degenerates who are simply too lazy too work. After meeting these people face to face she found that the story was much more complex, and at times the implications of what she learned brought her entire childhood view of the world into question. The more she saw of the world, the more her views began to darken.
