Isabelle

"Ever since I can remember I was obsessed with the sounds that emanated from the strange large object in my parent's living room. How could an object that seemed more like a piece of furniture than an instrument sound so delightful? Climbing atop the stool, unable to reach the pedals or even touch the floor, I would spend hours plinking on notes and filling the house with that wonderful sound that seemed to resonate from my soul."

Isabelle's fascination with sound continues and has expanded to the use of synthesizers and samplers. She uses today's technology to create an added dimension to The Imperial Orgy's sound. The subtle textures and bold electronically created sounds which once could only be created in the studio are a part of the band's live sound thanks to that technology.

A classically trained pianist, Isabelle began formal studies at the age of ten. Her first instrument was the clarinet which she took up at the age of seven. It wasn't until she moved to New York City that Isabelle bought her first synthesizer and thus began her journey into the world of electronic music.

Before The Orgy, Isabelle played keyboards for a variety of bands including the rock cover band Critical Mass, an original blues-rock band CeLange, and Ritual, an original band that used a unique blend of alternative, hardcore, hip-hop, rap, and rock. She has had a variety of studio and live experience including a performance at the Indonesian Embassy with Ritual.

Isabelle was also a member of the now disbanded East Village Theatre Company, where she was involved in many of their cutting-edge productions as a stage manager, director, and performer. Most notable was her performance in Urbanities in the Age of Ice, a movement piece created by Paul Warren.

When not with The Imperial Orgy, Isabelle writes her own instrumental new age/neo-classical music. Her latest project was a collaboration with British writer Rohan Quine. Isabelle was engaged to compose a 'musicscape' to back his spoken word project - a retelling of his published work "Hallucinations," a compilation of four dark novellas.

Attracted to the diversity of Caeser Pink's music, her keyboard style ranges from single note melodies to rockin' organ solos. She explains that sometimes disciplining oneself to play a single note can be harder than speeding through scales (especially when this is done while dancing in platform shoes among cables, wires, and pedals!)

Isabelle says that the band wants to create an atmosphere that makes the audience feel a part of The Imperial Orgy. She hopes that they feel amused and bemused and that they "leave their troubles at the door to celebrate the freedom of expression and individuality."

Isabelle was born and raised in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. New York City has been her home since 1988. She currently resides in Queens where she founded the Astoria Breakfast Club. Isabelle is a daily practitioner of meditation and is an active member of a NYC meditation center. She studies Buddhism, dream analysis and science. Her hobbies include writing poetry, exercise, roller blading, collecting hats and shoes (claiming to own over sixty hats!), and roof parties.
